This phenomenon has also been subject to numerous criticisms and complaints but continues to exist strong. (from New Venice, the turnover of fake Murano glass exceeds the original) For this reason the Veneto region in collaboration with the Murano glass promotion consortium has decided to create the certified mark of origin, of glass products made in Murano. the producers participating in the consortium boast of being legally recognized as producers of the island by law # 70 of 23/12/94 This is an absolute guarantee of the origin of the island product, with the numbered mark with the logo applied. The brand guarantees the consumer and protects the famous made in Italy goods. Buying an object made in Murano requires attention, so you can find out if the producers participate in the consortium and ask for the mark, as a guarantee of certified authenticity.
However, not all producers on the island adhere to the brand offered by the consortium, Consortium for the promotion of Murano glass, for reasons that we do not address in this article, but prefer to continue independent with their own production and rely on the recognition of their own brand and name of artists, focusing on their manufacturing mastery, as a guarantee of the uniqueness and origin of the work. When the Murano brand is not available for the piece, be more careful and ask for detailed information. Always ask for references on the producer of the work. In many cases, observe whether the signature of the master or the furnace that produces it appears on the work, but it is not a guarantee. In fact it seems unthinkable not to recognize a work made in Murano, the art and skills handed down for generations make it unmistakable pieces, the color of the glass and the unparalleled techniques. In general, however, a watchful eye is enough to distinguish the beauty of the works, which often cannot be bought at prices. too low and without a guarantee of origin given by the seller.
